'He wants to protect me from pain, from grief, but it is too late for that. There are some things in this world from which we can't be protected." - Kyra Winthrop, The Twilight Wife
The Twilight Wife by A.J. Banner is a fast-paced psychological suspense novel, a touch on the lighter side. Kyra Winthrop, the protagonist, has suffered a traumatic event that has left her with a rare case of memory loss. The plot unfolds as she attempts to figure out who she was during the time she cannot remember. Banner unveils the story masterfully, with just the right amounts of well timed revelations to keep you intrigued. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It has short chapters and it's all story and no fluff. While this isn't a tale likely to keep you up at night, it's utterly conniving and unnerving.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quick reads. Throw it in your travel bag, it's perfect for road trip reading, read it by the pool or at the beach. If you love reading contemporary fiction and lighter suspense novels be sure to check this one out!
