Mister Tender's Girl

"The concept of tomorrow is an illusion, a sweeping gesture of time. Marketing." - Alice Hill, Mister Tender's Girl

Mister Tender's Girl by Carter Wilson is a chillingly obsessive tale that spans decades. This novel is inspired by true events and will have you hooked from the start. The creep factor in this story is off the charts. Despite being almost 400 pages, with short chapters, I flew through this book in no time. Wilson tells this story explicitly from Alice's point of view and he nailed the single POV with this one. I loved her character and being inside her mind for the entirety of the events. Alice is a strong female you will want to root for. She has suffered an unimaginable horror from her teenage years that she is still running from. Can she out run the demons that haunt her? You'll have to read it to find out. One of the parts that I loved most about this story was also one of the hardest parts for me to read. Alice struggles through life with severe panic attacks and they are very descriptive. The struggle she faces daily to live her life is both empowering and heartbreaking. Her fight to take back the life that was senselessly stripped from her made my heart pound fiercely.

I felt as though this book was a bit Final Girls and a bit Stillhouse Lake, so if you

enjoyed either one of those you will love this book.

Mister Tender's Girl is under option with Legendary Television for development as a tv series. I cannot wait to watch this series! If you want to know more about the true story that inspired this book look up 'The Slender Man'.

I give Mister Tender's Girl 4.5 horrifying stars out of 5.

I read this along with Black Heart Reads Book Club. If you like deliciously dark reads, be sure to check them out!
