'Gaze detection, it's called -- our ability to sense when someone is observing us.' -The Wife Between Us
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen will blow your mind. Get ready to be blindsided more than once, this is a tale with twists galore. Hendricks and Pekkanen unveil a complex story of marriage and betrayal with a heaping dose of manipulation to it's core. With this unreliable narrator, nothing is what it seems. You might think while you are reading it that it follows traditional stereotypes of a marriage and a mistress, but prepare to have the rug pulled out from under you. This is about obsession, but by whom... The Wife? The Husband? The Mistress? I love the way the authors teased us with just enough information about each character to keep us wanting more yet not giving too much away. There were two surprises that I didn't feel were necessary and didn't particularly like, otherwise I loved everything about this one.
I tend to go into my books without reading the blurb or having read it so long ago that I don't remember the specifics. I highly recommend doing that with this book. Try to stay away from spoilers so that you can enjoy this one the way it is meant to be consumed.
The Wife Between Us has been optioned for film and I could not be more excited to see how this one plays out on the big screen.
