“Everyone carried a bag of regrets around inside… He wanted his bag to stop growing.” Bill Price, Bring Her Home

Bring Her Home by David Bell is a multi-layered tale full of suspense. Bill Price, father and widower, has suffered a lot in the past year and a half. Being a single dad raising a teenage daughter has been a difficult balance of trust and freedom with rules and discipline. Still hurting from the unexpected loss of his wife he now faces a parent’s worst nightmare. Bill Price’s character is easily relatable, he behaves exactly how I imagine any parent in his shoes would. His daughter and her best friend go missing, then two girls turn up badly beaten in the park, one dead and one fighting for her life. What happened to the two girls? How did they end up in the park? Who is to blame? How many secrets are there?

This is my first David Bell novel and he has packed this one full of surprises. While I did figure out two of the twists early on, I didn’t feel as though it took away from the depth or suspense level of the story. There were so many other unexpected revelations taking place throughout the book that I was constantly intrigued. It has been a while since a book has had me hooked from the first chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end and now I am anxious to check out more of his work.

I give this one 4 twisty stars out of five.
